Clover's fusible bias binding makers are designed to be used with fusible web and an iron in order to quickly create fusible bias tape from the fabric of your choice. 12mm fusible bias tape is useful for lattice and meshwork in quilting, piping and trimming, and for making 3 dimensional flower applique.
You can make bias tape that can be temporarily bonded using an iron from any material you like - set heat sensitive adhesive tape (the 10mm Clover fusible web is perfect) in the upper groove and a piece of material cut on the bias in the lower groove, then pull the two through the bias binding maker at the same time and iron to fix. You can also make standard bias tape by using the lower groove and fabric only, omitting the fusible web.
The fabric widths recommended for the 12mm fusible bias tape maker are as follows:
For bias tape (cut at 45 degree angle wrt the grain): Standard fabric (e.g. cotton) - approx. 24mm (15/16 inch), Thinner fabric (e.g. lining fabric) - approx. 28mm (1 1/8 inch)
For straight strips (cut along the grain): Approximately 24mm (15/16 inch)
Full instructions for use are given on the packaging.
